SIGI-CBA — Automatic Cardboard Sleeve (Band) Applicator for Flat Bottom Bags
SIGI-CBA is an automated system designed to apply a cardboard sleeve/band (carton overlay) onto ready-made bags, including flat bottom bags and stabilo bags. It improves shelf impact, strengthens branding, and delivers consistent carton positioning without
manual handling.
The unit integrates into existing packaging lines: bags are formed on the customer’s packaging machine and conveyed to SIGI-CBA (optional connecting conveyor). The process includes hot-melt glue application, carton placement, pressing for tight fit, and
(if required) application of metal rivets/eyelets.

Working principle (stations)
- 1) Bag infeed: finished bags are transferred from the customer’s machine via a belt conveyor (optional).
- 2) Hot-melt + carton application: hot-melt glue is applied in-line (e.g., NORDSON) with height adjustment; cartons are fed from the magazine, picked by a rotary applicator and positioned accurately with mechanical grippers.
- 3) Pressing: a pressing unit ensures a tight, neat fit of the carton sleeve on the bag.
- 4) Rivets/eyelets + outfeed: optional metal rivet/eyelet application and discharge to an outfeed conveyor.
Application method and benefits
- Fixing: hot-melt glue + optional metal rivets/eyelets.
- Quality: repeatable carton positioning and clean, premium-looking packaging.
- Output: up to 40 bpm (depending on product, materials and format).
- Integration: easy installation in customer lines and format changeovers.
Typical applications
SIGI-CBA is suitable for packed products in flat bottom bags where branding and shelf appearance matter: frozen foods (e.g., dumplings), pasta, legumes, grains, snacks and other retail-ready items.

Project example (custom version on request)
For frozen dumplings (non-fragile) in a 850 g flat bottom bag (sealed edges), a configuration with hot-melt + metal eyelets can be supplied. Target output is 20–30 packs/min; final performance is confirmed during trials with your materials.
FAQ
Is SIGI-CBA suitable for flat bottom bags?
Yes. The system is designed for flat bottom and stabilo bags, including vertical handling.
What is the real output on my packaging?
It depends on the bag material, carton format, required appearance and fixing method. Output is confirmed during trials using your materials.
Can I run hot-melt only, without rivets/eyelets?
Yes. Hot-melt provides fixation and positioning. Rivets/eyelets are added when extra mechanical holding or a premium look is required.
Can it be integrated into an existing line?
Yes. Infeed/outfeed conveyors and recipe settings allow straightforward integration and changeovers.
